A GREAT SUCCESS VERY SERIOUS TOPICS, BUT A LOT OF FUN TOO Federation of States - Cibolo, Texas, September 29, 2003- The events began with the Founder's Dinner & Theater which happened for over 100 pleased participants who enjoyed a great barbeque dinner, a wildly inspiring poem "The Bonnie Blue Flag" fervorently recited and enacted by Bonnie McDonald, daughter of Founders Karl and Nancy Falster.
There was then a one act play which was presented by Col. Gustav Hoffmann Camp #1835 players which involved two Confederate soldiers, both of German extraction from New Braunfels, Texas, who were wondering homeward after surviving a devastating battle and who ran into a very adamant fraulein with a pistol who drove them off of her fathers farm in Fredericksburg. It was an entertaining presentation with a historical setting. James Jones and Darin Gautier were the two Confederate soldiers and Susan Gautier played the part of the assertive fraulein. The producer was Clint Stapleton. They plan to add more to the play by next year. The evening was capped off by a speech by Black conservative, Jesse Lee Peterson in connection with the importance of strengthening our families as an answer to the lack of character crisis we are suffering with our youth today. ![]() * * * VERY SERIOUS TOPICS!
Karl Falster-Founder, Southern Historical Conference 2003 Federation of States - Schertz, Texas (suburb of San Antonio), September 30, 2003-This was a day of conference and speakers with vendors tables available during the regular intermissions for the folks for browsing amongst mostly confederate related merchandise which was for sale. These vendors tables also served as meeting points for smaller groups of participants to discuss the serious events before us and to exchange names and addresses. Over 300 people gathered to hear the speakers. After the invocation and songs, the participants were treated to a Confederate color guard presentation of colors by the Texas Lone Star Greys and a rousing Bagpipe duo with drummer. After this, the keynote speaker, U.S. Congressman Ron Paul spoke on State's Rights and the Confederate Battle Flag. - - - More Ron Paul ![]() There was a break which allowed visits to the vendor's tables and opportunities for the participants to meet each other. The next speaker was John C. Perry, historian, who presented "Myth & Realities of American Slavery". Perry established clearly that the slavery issue was not the key issue of the War of Yankee Aggression, which was actually State's Rights vs Federal Centralized Tyranny. After the speech and questions and answers, we adjourned to the outdoors to behind the VFW Hall where the convention was being held to witness the firing of the 6 pounder cannon by the Texas Lonestar Greys, Camp#1953 followed by a lunch break. Below, are men from the Texas Lone Star Greys, SCV Camp #1953 commanded by John "Pat" Dawson. Also present was Don Lawrence, Camp Adjutant and artillery troops.
After the firing demonstration, the crew buttons up the cannon and prepares to load it aboard its trailer to transport it home. ![]() * * * The afternoon session began with a speech by Jesse Lee Peterson on the "Financial Reparation to the Children of Former Slave's Issue." Reverend Peterson discussed the ridiculousness of this idea being pushed by radicals like Jesse Jackson. Rev. Peterson said that this amounts to a corporate rip off by these radicals and that the money goes into their organizations, not to the descendants of the slaves anyhow. Peterson believes that this continues to raise the hatred aspects rather than concentrating on building character in the Black youth by encouraging two parent families. ![]() After a break, the conference continued with a presentation by Professor Thomas E. Woods, Jr. (a founding director of the League of the South). Professor Woods speech was entitled: "Get a grip on it -The parties in this conflict were not merely abolitionists and slave-holders." Professor Woods spoke of cultural heritage, State's Rights and the ugly truth about Abraham Lincoln.
H.K. Edgerton After a final break, the final speaker was presented. Here was a Black man who walked all the way from North Carolina to Austin, Texas (some 1,700 miles) wearing a Confederate Soldier's uniform and carrying a Confederate Battle Flag to protest the removal of the plaque of dedication in the Texas Supreme Court building with a quotation from Robert E. Lee. H. K. Edgerton is the Chairman of the Board of the Southern Legal Resource Center in North Carolina and he spoke of: "Black men in the Confederacy, why slaves fought for their South." - - - More H.K. With a song and prayer, the Conference was adjourned to prepare for the Ball that evening. ![]() BUT A LOT OF FUN TOO! ![]() 2003 BONNIE BLUE BALL Folks began to gather in preparation for the 2003 Bonnie Blue Ball sponsored by the Southern Historical Conference. The evening saw over 100 participants, mostly in period dress and uniforms of the Confederacy of 1861. The dancing was also classic period dances including the Virginia Reel.
Let the Fun Begin.
What a Ball, what an occassion. Had the word spread enough and had the people been aware of how good this was going to be, there would have been hundreds of more attendees. Rick Perry to lobby for the reinstallation of a plaque displaying the Confederate seal that was removed from the Texas Supreme Court building because someone from the NAACP claimed they were offended. H. K. Edgerton, a black member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and his associates are also "offended" because of the illegal and unconscionable removal of that plaque dedicating the building to the State as a gift from funds from the Widows of Confederate Veterans. Local authorities are aware of H.K.'s march. Newspapers and radio stations in cities along the way await his arrival for interviews. Dinners have been arranged at the Dixie Cafe, Hearne for Friday, January 17th night at 6:30PM. On Saturday 18th the March will proceed from Calvert through Hearne and on to Gause on Highway 190. SHERIFF WELCOMES MARCHERS TO HIS COUNTY
H. K. Edgerton with Milam County Sheriff Charlie West as Confederates wrap up 20 mile march from Calvert, Texas to 2.3 miles west of Gause, Texas, Saturday, January 18, 2003. H. K. Edgerton, a Black Confederate who is also Chairman of the Board of Southern Legal Resource Center (SLRC) of Ashville, North Carolina. H. K. Edgerton has walked all the way from Ashville, North Carolina to Texas H. K. Edgerton was pleased with the very friendly attitude of the people who had watched his march from Calvert. On Monday, January 20, the march began 2.3 miles west of Trujillios Taquerio & BBQ in Gause and proceeded westward on Highway 79 to Rockdale where a barbecue was held at 4:00 P.M. at Poor Boy Barbecue paid for by the owners. About two dozen attended the BBQ after a highly successful march through Rockdale with residents, black and white, coming into the street to hug H. K. and the other Confederates. H. K. Edgerton was accompanied by his brother, Terry Lee Edgerton. The Edgertons are Black Confederates whose ancestors fought for the South in the Confederate Army. This grand march of over 1500 miles will conclude on Saturday morning, January 25, 2003 with a parade to the north steps of the State Capital. A throng of Confederates from many organizations, especially including the SCV, the UDC, Order of the Confederate Rose, the DCR, the SFD-SRT-Texas Army, 1st Brigade, Company C, the League of the South, the Southern Independence Party of Texas, the Southern Legal Resource Center and many other organizations and individuals will likely join in the march and parade. IMPORTANT !! For those wanting to march the last 5 miles with HK, please gather just north of the Super 8 Motel on Middle Fiskville Rd, in the Highland Mall parking area in Austin about 7:00 am. There is lots of room to park and gather, and if you need to stay in Austin Friday night, this would be the place. There is also a Hilton next door to the Super 8. HK will march from the Super 8 Motel on Middle Fiskville Rd. in Austin on Sat morning to the State Capitol, about 5 miles away. This intersection where he will start is just east of IH 35 and Hwy. 290, near Highland Mall. We have color guards, bagpipers and drummers, and other folks that will wait for him at the North side of the Capitol grounds, roughly 15th and Congress. We have routed down Red River St., beside the UT campus and coming into the North side of the Capitol grounds. The ceremony at the Supreme Court Building will begin around 11:00 am. You can either join HK during his march or gather at the North side of the Capitol and await his arrival. After the ceremony at the Supreme Court Building everyone is invited to Poke-e-Joes BBQ Restaurant at 1603 West 5th Street. Maps from the Capitol to the BBq place will be available at the Capitol. H. K. Edgerton plans to request a meeting with Governor Rick Perry and will, no doubt, speak to the crowd as well. Edgerton, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, is offended that the dedication plaque which was affixed to the Texas Supreme Court building was removed by the previous governor because some member of the NAACP said they were offended by the plaque. The plaque contains the Confederate battle flag and the statement by Robert E. Lee and was dedicated along with the building which was a gift to the State for the Texas Supreme Court. The building was built from funds from the Widows of Confederate Veterans. SEE PRELUDE of WHEN WAS THE CONFEDERACY FORMED?
